The Appalachian Artisan Center Hosts Artists’ Gathering 2008 - Building the Artists’ Community in Eastern Kentucky
The Appalachian Artisan Center is hosting Artists’ Gathering 2008: Building the Artists’ Community in Eastern Kentucky on Friday, April 11 through Saturday, April 12th. The Gathering begins on Friday evening with supper, round table discussions, networking and a dance with live music by Kentucky Wild Horse, followed by an open jam session.
Saturday will include a full day of workshops, a keynote speaker, resource booths, the 2008 Artists' Gathering Exhibit opening reception and opportunities for networking. This is a great way to learn about your fellow artists and art organizations in the region and beyond.
Topics for the Gathering will include: preparing for jurying; developing your artist statement; product development and presentation; how to handle commissions; event preparation and booth design; publishing options; marketing for performers; and a business and law question and answer session. Join us to learn all of these great tricks of the trade from professional artists and business people.
Presenters include Jamison Brumm - Jeweler, Judy Sizemore – Kentucky Arts Council Regional Outreach Director & Author, Pat Banks – Watercolor Artist, John Harrod – Kentucky Wild Horse Musician, Tonya Barkley – Marketing Specialist, Dean Osbourne- Kentucky School of Bluegrass and Traditional Music Director & Musician, Larry Watson – Ceramicist, Mary Reed – Mixed Media Artist, Theresa Kibby – Jeweler and Bill Weinberg – Appalachian Artisan Center Board Chair & Attorney.
Registration fees range from $25 to $70 depending on the need for accommodations, and scholarships are available. Make plans now to join us in Hindman to celebrate the rebirth of spring in the mountains.
