The Center for Rural Development is a national model for economic development in rural areas and operates a $15 million dollar facility that serves Southern and Eastern Kentucky with an array of economic development programs in agriculture, tourism, export assistance, small business development, industrial recruitment and telecommunications.
NOC SUPPORT SPECIALIST LEVEL I
The Center for Rural Development, located in Somerset, Kentucky, invites applications for the position of Support Specialist (Level I) for the Network Operations Center (NOC). The Center is a national model for economic development in rural areas and serves a 42 county service area of Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
The NOC Support Specialist provides support for NOC related projects performing within NOC objectives, policies and procedures, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The NOC Support Specialist assists support staff systematically, interacts with clients, and efficiently performs duties surrounding NOC related tasks. The position retains job specific accountability and reports to the Manager of the Network Operations Center. Among other responsibilities, the NOC Support Specialist will:
- Monitor networks, systems, peripherals, and operations facilities; proactively intervene/operate to ensure performance
- Perform problem determination and resolution activities, ensuring that appropriate communications, escalation, documentation, and closure activities occur
- Provide support for establishing/maintaining a current asset inventory
- Install, test, and document network/system/facilities changes as assigned
- Interact with other NOC staff, vendors, and the client community as appropriate in performing routine operations/maintenance, change management, problem resolution, and/or other support functions
- Perform system administration support tasks as assigned
- Actively support and participate in quality assurance related activities
Minimum qualifications include an associate degree, 2 years experience in a related field or a combination of education and work experience. Candidate must possess considerable experience with computer hardware and peripherals, MS Windows, MS Office Suite preferred. The successful candidate must be service-minded and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Considerations:
- Some travel within The Center’s service area is expected
- Shift and weekend work will be required

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR of HOMELAND SECURITY TRAINING PROGRAMS
The Center for Rural Development, located in Somerset, Kentucky, invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Homeland Security Training Programs. The Center is a national model for economic development in rural areas, serving a forty-two county service area of Southern and Eastern Kentucky and beyond, with a wide array of programs.
The position of Associate Director of Homeland Security Training Programs is an integral part of The Center’s overall mission. The Associate Director of Homeland Security Training Programs is primarily responsible for assisting with the direction and management of The Center’s homeland security initiatives including the National Certificate Program. The Associate Director tracks and ensures compliance to departmental budgets, manages the development and deployment of Homeland Security Training Programs, develops and implements a marketing plan and administers a network of organizations to promote The Center’s initiatives in this area. The position retains programmatic accountability and reports to the Associate Vice President of Technology.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a field of Technology, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, or related military area and four or more years experience in a related field, or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education. The successful candidate must be service-minded, and experienced in standard technology management methods and techniques. Knowledge of technology applications, processes, software, and equipment is a must. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively, plan and manage multiple tasks often with highly demanding time frames, and adapting to shifting priorities. The candidate must also have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience managing training or education delivery programs involving multi-media and online techniques. Solid presentation skills are essential.
