The Center for Rural Development, Conley Bottom Resort and Marina offering ‘Houseboat Holiday’ on Lake Cumberland as fundraiser for youth programs
This June, one lucky ticket holder will win a free “Houseboat Holiday” on Lake Cumberland in a regional fundraising campaign to benefit The Center for Rural Development’s three summer youth programs and their participants—Southern and Eastern Kentucky’s next generation of leaders.

For the second consecutive year, The Center is partnering with Conley Bottom Resort and Marina in Wayne County to offer a houseboat vacation valued at nearly $3,500, including a $200 fuel allowance. All proceeds from ticket sales will go toward The Center’s youth programs: Rogers Scholars, Rogers Explorers, and the Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (ELI).

“We were so successful last year in our fundraising efforts for such an important cause that Conley Bottom Resort and Marina chose to partner with us once again on this exciting campaign,” Jessica Melton, associate director of education and training for The Center, said.

The grand prize is a houseboat getaway on Lake Cumberland, one of the largest manmade lakes in the world and the nation’s premier houseboating destination.

Lake Cumberland is over 101 miles long with more than 1,200 miles of shoreline, astounding waterfalls, and countless secret coves. The winning ticket holder can explore all of this and more on one of the most luxurious houseboats in the fleet at Conley Bottom Resort and Marina.

Tickets may be purchased by calling The Center at 606-677-6000 or contacting Melton via e-mail at jmelton@centertech.com.

Tickets are $5 each, or can be bought in blocks of five for $20; 15 for $50; and 35 for $100.

The winning ticket will be drawn June 6 at The Center. The winner does not need to be present to win, and will be notified by phone. Dates and availability of the vacation package are subject to approval of the marina owners.

The Center’s youth programs provide leadership training and scholarship opportunities for middle and high school students in its 42-county primary service area of Southern and Eastern Kentucky. Rogers Scholars—The Center’s flagship youth program—Rogers Explorers, and ELI are all provided free of charge to participants and are funded through contributions and donations.

The Center for Rural Development—the Center of Excellence for rural Kentucky and the nation—provides economic and community development programs to residents in a 42-county primary service area of Southern and Eastern Kentucky, and is home to several statewide and national technology-based programs.
