The C-TRAIN program was a $5 million dollar innovative grant program funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and administered by The Center for Rural Development that enabled eligible businesses to seek financial assistance to train their employees in qualified areas of technology training.
The objectives of the C-TRAIN program included promoting high-tech skills and higher paying jobs, assisting rural businesses in becoming more competitive in the current economy, helping existing companies retain employees and give promotions, and recruiting new companies to The Center's 42-county primary service region. More than $2.8 million in grants were awarded to train over 2,875 people in Southern and Eastern Kentucky throughout the course of the program.
